52 Week Crochet Challenge Week 2

Hey Blogland, do you remember how I said I had joined the 52 Week Crochet Challenge? It is the start of a new week!

This weeks' challenge is to start a Crochet Notebook, Journal, Scrapbook or Blog. As I already have a blog, and with funds being so tight, I thought I would concentrate on my Crochet Journal.

I had started one a while back where I put my designs and ideas in, but only went to it periodically. Plus it is BORING, I know I should not compare my journal to others, however there comes a time when you have to say "Ugh, I can do better".

See not even a Title!

So this is what I will be working with. I wonder what I am going to do! I can't seem to make up my mind :) I will post pictures as I make progress!

If you have time, leave me a comment - I love comments :)

  1. Decorate it!
Crochet a page marker, a tie to keep the book closed, make a motif for the cover, or print a photo of one of the lovely blocks you recently posted and stick it on the cover.

    1. Hi Claire! Thank you for the wonderful ideas! The possibilities are endless, I know, and right now my mind is like a pinball machine where the ball is stuck on the rubber bumpers and bouncing around too fast to even be able to hit it with the flippers! And I am reminding myself not to wait for "Perfect" either :)

  2. Claire is right, decorate it and make it your own :) You made a good point too, E W. I have a beautiful and expensive (for me) journal and I don't use it :( I'm afraid I'm going to mess it up. That's why I like my cheapo composition book, I can be fearless. So, you are right, don't wait for "perfect" either.

    1. Thank you! I love the composition books, mostly because they are cheap AND they hold up. I still have my son's writing prompt journal from when we home-schooled 4th grade - and he is grown and has a family of his own!

Some idea will strike you for your beautiful journal and you will make it spectacular!

    1. Thank you! I started mine back in 2009 ish (?) and haven't even used 20 pages! Which is a shame, because I know I have made many items between now and then, but can't remember what I did! I think if you make it interesting you will actually USE it!

Good luck with starting yours! I can't wait to see it and I am sure it will be filled in no time - I have seen your blog :)

  4. Good for you for using what you have! All of the above suggestions are great. I might add using colored pencils - either to indicate yarn colors, or just to make it pretty :) Can't wait to see it evolve!

  6. This is a great start! The nice things about a journal is that it can evolve as you go along. It's not set in stone. That's how I'm looking at mine. If I like the way it's going, great. If not, I can change it. The point is...it's a starting point.

  7. Oooh exciting! Maybe cover the cover in a pretty paper? Or use newspaper and some gesso to thicken it and make your own designs, even stitch directly onto it

    1. I think one of the key things is "wipe off" -able, I am not exactly known for grace ;) so I think I like the idea of gesso, thank you!!!
