I have made some progress with it, though am still figuring out the cover :)
First, here are some of the supplies I have to work with. I am a hoarder and throw nothing away so this is just a pic of what I have been able to find to use... things are still packed from the move!
This is the "Cover Page" for the afghan I am making for my grand-daughter. I had to remind myself that it was o.k. if my painting looked like a child did it - what mattered was who I was thinking about and how it made me feel.
This was painted with water-colour pencils using my fingers and paintbrush, and the fat markers and black drafting marker |
And here is the Information Page which has the yarn am using, the name of the blocks crocheted (or to BE crocheted so far) and which CAL those blocks belong to.
Have a great day!

Your Journal is starting to look real good. I think a lovely hand drawn picture will add that special touch. Sadly I am not so good at drawing. The point of the journal I would think is to make it what you want to remember.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work,
Greetings,
Erika
That is exactly the point :) thank you Ms Erika
ReplyDeleteI love your cover page! I have no artistic talent whatsoever, and totally appreciate those who do. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, what a lovely compliment. I never would have considered this "talent", hehe I am grinning from ear to ear :D Thank you!
DeleteOh my goodness! I've been wracking my brains to figure out a way to fix crochet to my journal and this is perfect! Thanks for the idea.
ReplyDeleteI wish it was my idea but I remembered seeing it here http://www.deniablydomestic.blogspot.com/2014/01/2014-ravelry-bom-crochet-long.html Thank you tho!
DeleteI just haven't been able to get started on a paper journal yet! I use Ravelry, Pinterest, and Blog, but hey...what am I going to do if the server goes down!
ReplyDeleteThat is my problem here too - our server goes down DAILY. I think if the wind blows wrong it goes down :/ At least it is just the server and not the electricity too! There are just so many personal reasons to have a journal - some practical some not :) Mine is I am old school - I want the turning of the pages and the feel in my hands :) Blogs, Ravelry, and Pinterest are all journals of some sort, so make your decision based on YOU. Thank you for your comment!
DeleteYou know I would LOVE more of your watercolor paintings mom... I've got big blank white walls!!
ReplyDelete-your daughter
I'm trying sweety! Like I said, my giraffes I have been making.... don't look like giraffes! Still practicing tho :D -your mom
